At the end of another busy season, the CSB is bidding farewell to two of its members who are stepping out of the band.
We are delighted to announce that Andrew Poirier, who officially came into the band earlier this year, has been appointed as co-principal trombone of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and will be playing with them starting in September. While we are happy for Andrew and wish him well in his new professional career, we will miss his contribution as a soloist and the valuable contribution he made to the CSB trombone section in recent months.
Unfortunately, we must also say a fond farewell to Sarah Ewing, who was appointed as a member of the cornet section in September 2003. Unable to play her instrument since December 2005, due to complications arising from ongoing dental work, she has remained a member of the band, helping out with multimedia and assisting on percussion as necessary. We regret that things haven’t worked out for her to resume playing her cornet, but her contributions in other ways have been much appreciated, and we hope that one day she can come back into the band on her primary instrument.
Watch for further personnel updates as the band prepares for its 2007-2008 season.
