On March 28 and 30, the CSB will be recording several tracks for an international recording project tentatively entitled "Windows of the World." The compilation will bring together various staff music sections from around the world who will each contribute 10-12 minutes of newly-recorded music. When completed, proceeds from the sales of the 3 or 4-CD set will go directly to Salvation Army world mission projects undertaken by the various territories represented by the staff sections. For example, money from CDs sold in Canada and Bermuda will go directly to overseas mission work undertaken by our own territory.
The project was first conceived by Bandmster Brian Burditt several years ago, but had to be put on hold due to the Southeast Asia tsunami in December 2005 and subsequent project work involved, which Brian has overseen in his role as territorial director of world missions. However, things are now moving ahead and the recording should be finalized over the coming year, with an anticipated release sometime in 2008. When finished, it will represent an historic first as all the staff sections from around the world come together in this unique way to benefit the overseas work of The Salvation Army in grant-aided territories and commands.
