Personnel Update - December 2009

December 14, 2009 Add comment
Following our recent Christmas activities, CSB members took a moment to say farewell to two members who are leaving the band.

Ron Heintzman first joined the CSB in 1994 and has served for more than eight years, playing both Soprano and Solo Cornet. We will miss his presence as a player, as well as his friendship and sense of humour. We wish him well as he continues in his role as bandmaster at Meadowlands Corps, Hamilton.

Percussionist Stan Ewing is officially retiring after more than 26 years of service. Joining the band in 1970, he is one of only a handful of bandsmen who have played under all five staff bandmasters. Stan became well known for his skill and dexterity on the timpani especially, where for many years he played alongside fellow percussionist and longtime colleague Ron Reid. CSB members will miss his Irish humour, but salute him for his dedicated ministry and length of service with the band. We wish him well as he continues serving at his home corps of Peterborough Temple.

In addition to the above, James McArthur has also decided to step out of the band at the present time. A member for three years, he first came into the band under Bandmaster Kevin Hayward in 2004 and played until January 2006. He then came back into the band in 2008. His presence will be missed, but we wish him well as he continues to serve at Scarborough Citadel.
