The CSB will once again be going under the mics April 7, 9-10 to record our second album under Bandmaster John Lam. The recording sessions will take place at Brampton Corps and will once again be under the technical expertise of Ted Marshall.
Featured on the recording will be the title track, Corpus Christi. Written for the ISB’s tour of Canada in 1994, it was one of the highlights of the International Brass Spectacular concerts at Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall celebrating the Canadian Staff Band’s 25th anniversary.
Also scheduled for this recording are James Curnow’s Variations on Terra Beata and Shostakovich’s exhilarating Festive Overture (arr. William Gordon). New solos written for this CD will be presented by Major Kevin Metcalf (cornet), Craig Lewis (trombone) and Steve Pavey (euphonium). Throw in Lowell Anniversary march by Stephen Bulla and James Curnow’s Hallelujah!, along with some other surprises, and the album promises to have something to suit every taste.
The Canadian Staff Band's new CD, Corpus Christi, is scheduled for release in June.
